So I know I have mentioned to you that I have recently went to the doctor and found out about my sugar issue. Well there is this really cool blog called Fun and Fit that I was introduced to a while ago. I get on there read and then think crap I should really do something like that. But where do I start? Well I finally messaged Kimberly Williams-Evans and asked. Her and her sister Alexandra gave me some awesome advice on where to start. You can check out the entire post here. But here are some great points I want to share with you.
From Kymberly: Great questions! Do the activities you enjoy as those are the ones you will stick with. The main equipment I suggest is the right pair of shoes. Get what’s comfortable, workout-specific, and durable. The most expensive shoes are usually over-engineered. We are not fans of the rocker type shoes for indoor workouts.
My approach for beginning exercisers has always been tosimply get out there and exercise as often as you can, as long as you can, as hard as you can.
Experience compels us to say that the fewer RULES, REQUIREMENTS, and “SHOULDS” that you place between you and working out, the happier and more successful you will be in reaching your goals. Just move, move more, move a lot. Then come back for more fine-tuning advice.
From Alexandra: Since you already know you enjoy dancing, and you’ve found a class and joined a gym, I think the only remaining thing to do is make a specific plan. Mark it in your calendar. And list it as an appointment, not a class. People tend to keep appointments!
I can not wait to put these into motion. This week I am starting at the YMCA and my Zumba class started as well. I am really excited about this new adventure and I am really excited to share my excitement with my girls.
There are things that I need to change though, for instance my shoes. I have always assumed that running shoes would be the best workout shoes. So I will be looking into getting a really good pair of shoes.
